Earned four letters for EMU from 1992-95...Served as a captain of the 1995 EMU football team that recorded a 6-5 record...Selected as a first-team All-Mid-American Conference offensive lineman in 1995...Played in all 44 games during his EMU career, earning 35 starts...Went on to play in the NFL from 1998 until retiring in 2009...Played with the Miami Dolphins, Green Bay Packers, Oakland Raiders, Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, Atlanta Falcons and the Detroit Lions...Was named the Detroit Lions representative for the 2006 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award and won the Detroit Sports Choice Award that same year...Was a nominee for the NFL's Byron "Whizzer" White Award...Established the Barry Stokes Foundation while playing in the NFL and also began the Barry Stokes Youth Football League to benefit his hometown area of Davison-Flint...Played in NFL Europe for the Scottish Claymores in 1998 and was later voted into that club's Hall of Fame...Has been actively involved with the EMU football program for the past 10 years.
