Outstanding golfer at EMU and earned All-America honors in 1969 after leading EMU to a 13-4-1 record and 12th place finish in the NAIA national championships and a fourth-place finish in the NCAA-College Division national championships... Finished third individually at the 1969 NCAA-CD nationals... After college he went on to become a standout amateur golfer... Finished second in the North-South Amateur Medal Play Tournament in 1972... Placed in the top eight in Michigan Medal Play eight times, finishing second in 1980... Earned a third-place finish in the 1988 Michigan Amateur Tournament of Champions... Won the Washtenaw Country Club championship in 1973, 1977, 1988 and 1989.
