Outstanding four-year decathlete on the EMU track team... Won the Mid-American Conference decathlon championship for four consecutive years, the first in the history of the league to win four titles in the same event... Named the MAC's Most Outstanding Performer twice... Was the AAU Junior National Champion in 1978... Qualified for the NCAA Division I championships four straight years and earned All-American honors twice... Names EMU's Athlete of the year in 1980... Places third in the decathlon at the 1983 National Championship Meet and earned a spot on the United States team for the Pan American Games... Qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials in 1984 but was hampered by injury... Won or finished runner-up at every major relay east of the Mississippi, including the Drake and Penn Relays... Had the 20th highest score on the U.S. all-time list of decathletes and was within 100 points of Rafer Johnson's best score... Represented the U.S. on teams that competed in Russia, Germany and Venezuela... Six-time national qualifier and finalist... Set EMU, Bowen Field House and Olds-Marshall track decathlon record... Competed in the National Sports Festival in 1981 and 1985 and was a medalist in '85.
