Outstanding track performance from EMU... Captain of the 1950 track team... Helped lead the 1950 team to the conference championship as the high point scorer with one first and three second-place finishes... Won the Central Collegiate Conference (CCC) low hurdles title... Captured the State AAU high and low hurdles crowns... Earned All-American honors in the low hurdles in 1950... Turned in a string of 22 consecutive wins in hurdles competition... Finished second to hurdles great Harrison Dillard in the 60-yard indoor hurdles race at the AAU Championships in New York's Madison Square Garden... Coached track and cross country at Flint Northern High School for 31 years and his teams won 128 and lost just 50, including 15 Flint City championships, 13 conference titles and for state championships... Names Genessee County Coach of the Year five times and was also the Michigan High School Coaches' Association Coach of the year four times... Inducted into the Greater Flint Area Sports Hall of Fame in 1986... Inducted into the National Coaches Hall of Fame in 2000.
