Played football, basketball, and baseball at EMU... Captain of the baseball team in 1950-51... Coached freshman football and assisted in baseball for one year at EMU before beginning his high school coaching career... Named varsity basketball coach at Harbor Springs in 1956 and in his 27 years his teams won 401 and lost just 168... Selected Michigan Class D "Coach of the Year" in 1974 and 1976... Also coached varsity football at Harbor Springs for 10 years and was selected "Coach of the Year" in 1976, when he led his team to and undefeated season... Names EMU football alumnus "Coach of the Year" in 1976... Was inducted into the Trenton High School sports Hall of Fame in 1982.
