Competed in athletics at EMU before there were varsity teams for women... Went on to become an outstanding field hockey player after graduation... Played in 13 national tournaments and five international matches... Played on the United States team at the 1953 International Federation Championships held in England and also toured with that U.S. squad... Named first team in 1953 and selected for the U.S. field hockey team again in 1951, 1959 and 1960... In 1959-60 she was a WIBC Class B singles and all-events champion in the City of Detroit Tournament... Was a Michigan and Oakland County Parks and Recreation senior golfer champion in 1982, 1983 and 1984... Named to the Great Lakes League field hockey first teams for 13 consecutive years from 1949-62... Introduced into Michigan Amateur Sports Hall of Fame for field hockey in 1980... Spent 34 years as a teacher, coach and administrator at the Edison Institute in Dearborn and Bloomfield Hills... Recipient of Operation Pride Award given by the Michigan Association of Health, Physical Education and Recreation in 1981-82... Given the Distinguished Service Award by the Board of Education in Bloomfield Hills in 1982.
