Won three varsity track letters and one in football... Won the 440-yard dash at the Interstate Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) in 1949 and 1950... Was a member of relay teams that captured championships in the 880-yard relay and the mile relay in Drake, Purdue, Ohio, Bowling Green and Chicago Relays... Was the Michigan AAU 440-yard dash champion in 1949 and 1950... Ranked in the Top 20 440-yard dash runners in the country in 1950... Was the Second Army champion in both the 220 and 440-yard dashes, setting records in 1954... Served the Detroit Public Schools for more than 25 years as a teacher, counselor, assistant principal, and principal.
