Outstanding middle distance runner who won six letters in track and cross country... Set the state AAU half-mile record in capturing that title three years in a row... Unbeaten in dual-meeting competition in 1936... Won the 800-meter run at the Regional Olympic Games Trial in Grand Rapids in 1936... Made outstanding contributions to coaching youth teams, including leading the Ypsilanti High School cross country team to the Twin Valley League title and a state runner-up crown... Served as general chairman of the State of Michigan AAU track program that helped organize track meets throughout the state... Employed by the Detroit Department of Recreation for 30 years before retiring.
