Captain of both freshman and varsity track teams... Held or shared five school varsity track records... Ran a :48.5 time in the 440-yard dash, a school record for 20 years... Ran in the 1932 Olympic Trails and just missed qualifying for the U.S. team... Assisted the head track coach at Eastern and also coached wrestling and gymnastics... Won four boxing championships as a student and also captured three wrestling titles... Left Eastern to become director of health and safety at Indian University... Returned to Eastern as the full-time trainer from 1952 until retiring in 1956.
