A talented and versatile athlete, earned seven letters in baseball and football from 1962-65... Recorded nine wins on the mound and a .279 batting average as an outfielder and first baseman in his three year baseball career... Started 26 consecutive football games and recorded eight interceptions in 1963, which ranks third in EMU record books and finished his football career with 16 interceptions, which is second in EMU football history... Started both as defensive back and wide receiver in 1964 and was second in pass receptions and points scored... Served as the team punter for two years, along with returning punts and kick-offs... Selected as an All-Conference defensive back in 1965 and signed a free agent contract with the Detroit Lions in 1966... Coached baseball and football at Ypsilanti St. John and Dearborn Sacred Heart. His outstanding players and successful teams lead to his induction in the Detroit Catholic League Coaches Hall of Fame... Graduated from EMU in 1967 and earned a master's degree in 1972, leading to a 34 year career in education as a coach, teacher, principal and school superintendent... Selected by the Eastern Michigan University Athletic Department in 2014 as a "Legend of the Game" in recognition of his football career at EMU... Member of the Kappa Phi Alpha fraternity and the Eastern Michigan University Alumni Association Board of Directors.
