With pure talent and dedication to the team, Carl Thomas made an impact on the Eagles. Playing in 113 games with 66 starts, Carl had a notable career. He helped the team to a record of 84-40 with a MAC Championship title. Racking up 1,179 points and 452 rebounds, he was a four-time letterwinner. His senior year, he set a career record for three-point shots with a total of 185. Carl is also in the record books with 249 assists, putting him in the top 20. Carl was a key member of the NCAA Tournament Team in 1991. He scored a career-best, 27 points, against North Carolina in the Sweet 16 game. When the tournament concluded, he was named to the All-East Region Team of the NCAA Tournament. During the NCAA run, Carl totaled 62 points which ties his teammate, Markus Kennedy, for most in EMU history. After leaving EMU, he began his NBA career with the Sacramento Kings. He later went on to play with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors and Orlando Magic. He is currently an assistant coach for men’s basketball at Duquesne University under Head Coach Keith Dambrot, former EMU Assistant Coach.
