Has been a part of the Eastern Michigan University baseball program as an outstanding player and assistant coach, and the 2005 season is his 18th as the head coach...Has recorded 483 career wins as a head coach...The 2002 Eagles recorded one of the most successful years in history, with the team winning the Mid-American Conference West Division championship as well as the MAC Tournament title while qualifying for the NCAA Mideast Regional...Named MAC Coach of the Year in 2002...Also led the 2004 team to the championship game of the MAC Tournament...Served for 16 years as an assistant coach to veteran Head Coach Ron Oestrike, and the team enjoyed great success during that period, making two appearances in the College World Series, finishing second in the nation in 1976 and fifth in 1975...Played for the EMU baseball team from 1968-70 and earned three varsity letters...Was the starting pitcher in the 1970 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national championship game, which EMU won...A total of 80 EMU players under Coryell have signed professional baseball contracts...Has been an active member of the Baseball Coaches Association for 35 years.
