Turned in an outstanding track and cross country career at EMU from 1968-71 earning four letters in both sports... Helped EMU win the 1968 Notre Dame Invitational Cross Country title as a freshman... Places 12th at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championship to earn All-American honors and led Eastern to a second-place team finish... Ran on the 1970 cross Country team that won both the NCAA Division II and NAIA national titles, the only team to accomplish that feat... Helped EMU win the second of three straight NAIA national titles in track placing second in the mile run and anchoring the third-place 3200-meter relay team... Placed second in the mile run in a varsity record time of 4:05.7 to earn All-American honors at the 1971 CCC indoor meet... Placed fifth in the 1,000-yard run at the 1971 NCAA meet in a time of 2:09.3 to earn All-American honors... During the 1971 outdoor season, he ran the third leg on the winning distance-medley relay team the broke varsity, meet and Michigan Collegiate record at the Drake Relays... One of only five EMU track athletes to be named All-American in NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and the NAIA... After graduation he was a jet pilot in the U.S. Marine Corps.
